During the easter break, MP2Lab hosted Dr. Alexey Amunts (University of Münster/Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation), one of the world’s leading experts on structural biology of bioenergetics. Alexey got to experience a sea slug collection trip to Aguda beach, where unfortunately it became evident that it was too early in the season for Elysia viridis. Luckily, the sun was abundant and the water in the Atlantic Ocean was manageably warm for a brief swim. We are looking forward to the fruits of our collaboration with Alexey and his team investigating the protein complexes in kleptoplastic sea slugs using cryo-electron microscopy.
