I studied Marine Sciences at the University of Alicante (UA, Spain). After this period, I decided to specialize in microbiology and molecular biology by doing a master’s in advanced microbiology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB, Spain). Thanks to these studies, I obtained relevant knowledge in molecular biology and bioinformatics. Afterwards, I had the opportunity to do an internship at the European Comission’s Joint Research Center (JRC) in Geel (Belgium). During these five months in the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) team, I could learn how to use qPCR and ddPCR for the identification and quantification of specific DNA fragments. After a work experience as a laboratory technician for the analysis of Covid tests in the Netherlands, I decided to find a PhD in Marine Sciences. I started my PhD studies at the University of Aveiro (UA, Portugal) in January of 2022 in the Kleptoslug project focusing my efforts in Sacoglossa sea slugs by applying lipidomics and isotopes studies to analyze the maintenance and benefits of stolen macroalgal chloroplasts in animal cells.
Keywords: marine bacteria, sea slugs, molecular biology, lipidomics, isotopes, qPCR, kleptoplasty.
